Sarah Murphy
Friend of the Groom
Sarah and Aaron met in college when she tried to get him to cast her in a play by writing the words “cast me” on a bagel in mustard. He was unable to read the bagel, but a friendship was born nonetheless. Over the years, they’ve worked together on a number of different projects, including founding a theatre company and recording 90% of an audiobook version of a Shakespeare play. (We’re gonna finish as soon as the wedding is over!)
Sarah is a librarian, a reader and a spectacular gardener. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband Jason (see below) and no cats.
Sarah performs the New Year’s Day tradition we made up this year of walking through the front door with olives, a grapefruit and a shower cap:

Phillip Grigg
Godfather of the Bride
Uncle Phil is not really Danielle’s uncle, but he is her godfather and an amazing one at that! An avid board game player, he’s been known to indulge Danielle by playing one of her favorite childhood games, “Pretty Pretty Princess,” inevitably winning and wearing the crown and all the accessories. The Grigg clan has gotten the Kanes addicted to several wonderful games (of higher caliber than the “Pretty Pretty Princess” variety).
Phil worked as an actuary with Danielle’s parents, before retiring with his wife Belinda to their dream home, a true log “cabin” in Utah, where Danielle and Aaron love to visit and raid their “vice cabinet.” (Their vices are pretty tame, mostly chocolate based.)
There, Aaron enjoys skiing with Jillian, while Danielle prefers to watch and wave from the mountainside.

Invitation Graphic Design

Jimmy is a brilliant and talented independent NYC graphic designer. He was a colleague and mentor to Aaron many years ago in a life before architecture. Besides his design mastery and his refined typographic sensibilities, Jimmy’s is also an excellent musician. He plays lead guitar for the NYC thrash-metal-nuevo-punk band Hack. We had asked them to play the reception, but they declined because they didn’t want to melt any faces off on our wedding day.

Found the Reception Venue
Jason came into our lives by marrying Sarah (see above) and we intend to keep him. He has excellent taste in music, he found our wedding venue for us, and he once made a jalapeno margarita that Aaron still dreams about. Jason can most often be found scouting the city for film locations, slaving over a smoker in his back yard, or loving Sarah. He is the CEO of loving Sarah.
